The Effects of Prostaglandins on Gastro-Intestinal System

Abstract
|
|
|
The recent knowledge on the effects of prostaglandins (PGs) are reviwed. General remarks, biological importance, biosynthesis and metabolisms are briefly discussed. Among the many kinds of actions of prostaglandins on various tissues, effects on gastro? intestinal system were argued on fol!owing viewpoints more in detail.
I . Gastro-intestinal movement and PGs.
1. Distribution, release and metabolism of PGs in gastro-intestinal tissue.
2. Effects of PGs on smooth muscle of gastro-intestinal system.
II. Gastric juice secretion and PGs.
1. PGs and change of circulatory volume through gastric mucosa.
2. Relationship between cyclic-AMP and PGs in gastric mucosa.
